He will provide an in-depth look at race as a cultural construct, in this multimedia presentation that grapples with the question of a post-racial America, and explores the redemptive, healing and emancipatory power of music and poetry. Freelon is also the founder of Blackspace, a digital maker space in Durham, NC, where young people learn about music, film, and coding. He has taught music, political science, and African American studies at UNC-Chapel Hill and North Carolina Central University.
