Assistant Professor of Nursing, Tenure-track

The Department of Nursing at Rockford University is seeking individuals with a passion for educating the next generation of nurses. We invite applications for full-time, tenure track nursing faculty positions starting academic year 2024/25. Primary responsibilities include teaching prelicensure BSN students in the classroom, simulation, lab, and/or clinical settings.

The successful full-time candidate will teach 12 workload credits in the fall and spring semesters and will be eligible for benefits and continuing education activities.

Required qualifications:

  • Registered nurse with an active license in the state of Illinois, or eligible to obtain an Illinois registered nurse license by the start of employment
  • Master’s degree or higher in nursing
  • At least two years of experience providing direct patient care

Preferred qualifications:

  • Teaching experience
  • Doctoral degree preferred but not required
  • Various backgrounds in nursing are welcomed to apply. Experience in mental health or medical-surgical nursing are especially desirable.

Setting

Rockford University is a small, private, non-profit institution with a curriculum grounded in the liberal arts and complemented by professional and practical experience. The university campus is located in a park-like setting that is nestled into a small urban environment 75 miles northwest of Chicago.  The Rockford area supports three robust medical centers (OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center, Swedish American Medical Center and Javon Bea Hospital- Rockton and Riverside Campus), as well as numerous healthcare agencies and community resources. The Department of Nursing is part of the College of Science, Math and Nursing.
