Rockford University is seeking qualified candidates for a Tenure-Track Assistant or Associate Professor of Urban Education position within the Education Department starting Fall 2025. This is a full-time position.
The Education Department at Rockford University offers an Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE)-approved graduate program which results in an educator licensure, Professional Educator License (PEL) Administrative Endorsement for Principal, PK-Age 22, and a graduate program in Urban Education for teachers in urban schools aspiring to teacher leadership.
The teaching load is three graduate-level courses (12 hours) per semester. Evening, in-person, and online teaching will be required of the position. This position will support the Director of Urban Education in teaching and mentoring students in the Urban Education Leadership Program or advising graduate students aspiring to teacher-leader roles in action research projects. This position will also work with community/district partners in collaborative efforts.
Candidate requirements for the Assistant or Associate Professor of Urban Education position:
The successful applicant must have an educational philosophy compatible with a private, independent institution with a liberal arts environment.
